Disagreement between papers is the point
Within one paper, two passages saying the same thing are a wasted slot. Across two papers they are the finding: two studies agreeing is corroboration and two disagreeing is the thing worth writing about. So the rule that normally pushes out near-duplicate passages is relaxed between documents rather than applied flat.
That is not a theoretical adjustment. Applied flat, a paper restating a figure that another gave differently scored as a near-duplicate, lost its place in the context, and the answer named one figure with complete confidence and no indication that anything else existed.
Citations are the output, not a decoration
Every answer carries numbered citations back to the passage and the page it came from, and those numbers run continuously across a whole conversation rather than restarting at one for every answer. A passage packed across a page break cites both pages rather than the first, because a citation that looks checkable and is wrong is worse than none.
Where nothing relevant is retrieved, the question never reaches the model and you are told the reading list does not answer it. A fluent paragraph built from the nearest available passage is indistinguishable from a real answer, and in a literature review that is how an invented consensus gets written down.
A number the model invents rather than takes from the context is stripped instead of being left dangling in the text. Everything runs on this device, papers included, so there is no upload and no cap on how much reading you put in front of it.

Yes. Recognition runs first, which is what the first step of the plan is for.
