Translate a research paper into Hindi

Reading a paper in a second language is slow work. This translates it on this device, keeps the run under your control, and is honest about what it cannot carry.

What survives the translation and what does not

Prose translates. Equations, figures and the layout of a two-column paper do not: the text is translated and written out as prose, so what comes back reads as a document rather than as a facsimile of the paper. Keep the original beside it for the figures and the mathematics.

Terms of art are the other thing to watch. A machine translation will render a technical term literally where the field has settled on a different word, and in a paper that is the difference between a sentence that reads well and one that means something else. Treat this as a reading aid rather than as a version to cite.

Not every output can show the script

The typefaces built into the PDF format cover Latin text and nothing else, so a correct Hindi translation drawn into a PDF comes out as rows of question marks. So the plan writes the translation as plain text, which carries every script. The Translate tool is where the other formats live: it offers Word as well, and withholds the PDF with the reason printed beside it rather than letting it be discovered after saving.

Plain text carries every script. The translation runs on a model in your browser, which is slower than a service and is exactly why nothing is uploaded; the panel shows how far through it is, and a run can be stopped with whatever has been translated kept.

Nothing is uploaded and nothing is retained once the tab closes, which also means there is no per-day limit on how many pages you put through it, and no account to make before you start.

Which other languages work?

Edit the language in the instruction. The same notes about terms of art apply to every one of them.

Are the references translated too?

Yes, as text, which is usually not what you want. Keep the original reference list.
