Translate a workplace policy into Hindi

A policy nobody on the floor can read is a policy that was not communicated. This translates it on this device and saves it in a format that can actually display Devanagari.

A translation is a communication, not a contract

Which version governs is a question for whoever wrote the policy, and a machine translation is not a certified one. What this produces is the version people can actually read, which is the version that changes behaviour. Where the wording carries legal weight, hand the translation to somebody who can check it rather than publishing it directly.

The reason to do it here rather than in a translation website is that an unreleased policy pasted into a web form has been published, to somebody, in a way nobody sanctioned. Everything on this page happens inside the tab and nothing is retained when it closes.

Not every output can carry Devanagari

The typefaces built into the PDF format cover Latin text and nothing else, so a perfectly good Hindi translation drawn into one comes out as rows of question marks. So the plan writes the translation as plain text, which carries every script. The Translate tool is where the other formats live: it offers Word as well, and withholds the PDF with the reason printed next to it rather than letting it be discovered after saving.

Plain text carries every script. Figures are the other thing to check by hand: a number that came through recognition can lose a digit silently, and a translated leave policy with the wrong number of days in it is worse than no translation.

Long documents are translated in windows with the progress shown, and every window is kept. A run can be stopped and whatever has been translated so far is still yours. Nothing about the run is kept once the tab is closed.

Can I translate into a different language?

Yes. Edit the language in the instruction before the plan runs.

Is the layout kept?

The text is translated and written out as prose. Complex page layout is not reproduced.
