Extract the key clauses from a contract

A contract is thirty pages and about six of them matter. This reads the document, including a signed copy that arrived as a scan, and answers questions about it with a page number against every claim.

Why this is two tools and not one

A signed contract almost never has a text layer. It was printed, signed, scanned and emailed back, so what arrives is a picture of a contract rather than a contract a computer can read. Ask a question of that file directly and the honest answer is that there is nothing in it to search.

So the page runs recognition first and the retrieval second. The recognition happens here, on this device, using a model your browser downloads once; the retrieval is a search over what it read, not a summary of the whole thing. That order is the entire trick, and it is why a single-tool answer to this search usually disappoints.

What comes back, and what does not

Answers name their source. Each one cites the passage it came from and the page that passage is on, because a clause quoted without a page is a clause somebody has to find again before they can rely on it. Where two passages disagree, both are reported with both citations rather than resolved into a confident single answer that happens to be wrong.

Where nothing relevant is found, the question is not passed to the model at all and you are told the document does not answer it. That refusal is deliberate. A fluent paragraph assembled out of the least bad passage is the one failure this cannot survive, because it is indistinguishable from a real answer.

This is a reading aid and not advice. It finds the clause; deciding what the clause means for you is still a lawyer's job.

Is the contract uploaded anywhere?

No. Recognition and retrieval both run inside this browser tab on your own machine. There is no server holding a copy afterwards.

Does it work on a scanned counterpart?

Yes, and that is what the first step is for. The page is recognised before anything tries to search it.

Can I ask about several agreements at once?
